I moved to Thailand in 1989 from Beijing China, to assume the position of Managing Director of Hewlett Packard (Thailand) Co., Ltd., subse-quently serving in that position for three years. In lieu of returning to the USA, I accepted early retirement from HP, after 35 years of service and stayed in Thailand founding a consulting firm, Management Consulting Services Co., Ltd., to provide consulting services related to various ISO standards relative to quality management and environmental management.

I moved to Phuket in 1996, continuing consulting activities, and during the following years, founded a building material manufacturing company, taught environmental engineering at a local university, and became involved in several community service organizations, including the Ro-tary Club of Patong Beach. I am currently retired.

I have served in several positions in Rotary including Co-Community Services Chairman, Voca-tional Services Chairman, Vice President, and currently Scholarship Committee Chairman, ad-ministering our scholarship program for 281 disadvantaged children affected by the tsunami.

I discovered the Home & Life project during my activities related to tsunami relief in the Pang Nga area and brought the project to the attention of the Rotary Club. I have subsequently, for the past four years, been involved with various activities at Home & Life, including initiating some of the children there into our Rotary Scholarship Program.

Root and Rasa have become my personal friends and have won my true respect as they have formed a wonderful family for 23 young children, devastated by the tsunami, who otherwise, would have had a rough time in life.

I was honored to be asked to join the Board of Directors of the committee to establish the Home & Life Foundation and serve that committee as Treasurer, and I look forward to serving in that capacity when the formal Home & Life Foundation is established.

I am married to a Thai national, have two (Thai) step-daughters and two grandchildren, and have made Phuket my permanent home.
